"The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who,
in times of moral crisis, remain neutral"
- Dante
One of my
favorite movies is
"In Pursuit of Honor"
from 1995 which is
based on a true story of U.S. Cavalry soldiers who
are ordered to slaughter 500 horses when the military upgrades to tanks.
Rather than kill the horses, the men mutiny and make a desperate drive for
the border of Canada.
While the facts of the movie
are being debated, there is no debate over the morale of the story. Horses have
a special place in humans' hearts and we owe it to them and to us to give them respect
and an honorable death they so deserve.

What is Horse Slaughter
about?
Even though the number greatly reduced over the last decade, 94,037 American horses were mass-slaughtered in 2005 for commercial use as meat
for human consumption. Horse-meat is consumed in Japan and parts of Europe.

Quote: "What is the difference
between a horse and a steer and a hog?
The horse is an icon along with the bald eagle. What is the difference
between a bald eagle and a pigeon or a turkey? And if you do not know
the difference, we cannot explain it to you."
